We've all played with Lego bricks, but Nathan Sawaya turns them into so much more than castles, spaceships or cars.
We caught up with him at the opening of his exhibit, The Art of the Brick, at Park City's Kimball Art Center.
A former New York lawyer, Sawaya quit his job to become an amazing lego artist. We are not talking about cities or spaceships but true ART. His fine sculptural works will be touring the USA this summer.
Here he is with one of his reclining blue pieces. Another one of his figurative works, "Yellow" (featured on today's AK Files) has emerged as the iconic sculpture in a nationwide art tour.
LEGO builders typically envision putting things together. Sawaya responds with some of his particular works, "I really see this as someone pulling themselves apart”, said Nathan Sawaya.
