Les Green: Southern Regional Miniaturist -- by Glenn
It typically takes a grand artist to make a miniature work of the sculptural or painting genre! In our super-sized times, miniature photographs, and conceptual works have been a neglected area of contemporary fine arts exploration, although admittedly they wouldn't require a huge exhibition space.
Collector member, Glenn, presents a wonderful retrospective of a master miniaturist of Southern regionalism. The hyperlink here, along with biographic information offers a wonderful overview of this rarified artform:

A nationally award-winning miniature painter, Les’ work has exhibited in juried miniature shows in 24 states. In 1936, Green’s first painting entered in competition won the Mississippi Art Association’s Best in Show award – he never looked back, winning awards in juried exhibitions from New Mexico to Florida to New Jersey to Montana, Alabama, Wyoming, Indiana – the list goes on. In 1985, Les Green was elected to membership in the prestigious Miniature Painters, Sculptors, and Engravers Art Society of Washington, D.C., founded in 1933, having work accepted and sold in their juried annual exhibition as recently as 2006. Les passed away in December 2008.
